Episode #167: Unconventional Business with A Cartoonist, A Filmmaker & Lolly Pop

This week on The JellyVision Show Podcast, we welcome back two of our favorite creative entrepreneurs: Cartoonist Carolyn Belefski and Filmmaker Joe Carabeo of Astray Productions. Together, they are the hosts of the long running podcast, The Carolyn and Joe Show. These two never stop hustling and we love it.

Carolyn is the writer and artist behind the Curls comic strip which tells the stories of a mischievous and happy group of unlikely friends. She is currently hard at work on a Curls Kickstarter campaign to compile every single Curls cartoon along with personal sketches and behind the scene glimpses into her creative process into one anthology. Please donate what you can because the prize levels are simply amazing including one where Carolyn will turn you into a cartoon.

Joe is hard at work on his most recent indie feature film, The Incident In Tesla, a Supernatural Suspense Mystery. Keep up with the film's progress including the search for investors! You can also book Astray productions for professional, creative photo shoots for awesome personal and business branding your business.

We discuss tips on how to get the most out of your first convention. Carolyn and Joe have been to a variety of conventions to sell their work and network in their industry. They share the wisdom they've gained over the years. We also discuss when and if artists should work for free, financing indie films and choosing the right people for your team.

We are joined by Lolly Pop, a creative solopreneur who has pivoted her business in order to capitalize on a new market. A former adult performer, Lolly Pop now performs as a powerful cartoon character at children's events. We admire her perseverance.

Tell us how you like the show! Tell us what you are struggling with in your creative business. Maybe we will make it a show topic!  We want to hear from you --we really do!
