“Some people use things; they destroy. You’re a creator, a builder.”

— Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

We welcome back Scooter Mann, the producer of Anansi Storytime, a podcast of fairy tales and folklore told in a radio play format. We are also joined by LJ Donnell who is a writer, novelist, and voice actress on Anansi.

We discuss the motivations and benefits behind being committed to such a time-consuming creative project that does not generate an income (yet). Money is not an issue when your creative projects pay you in personal fulfillment, joy, friendship, collaboration, team building, learning opportunities, and they often lead to career transitioning skill sets and an expanding network!

Please follow Anansi Storytime on Facebook and Twitter. You will be impressed with the work that goes into this creative production.

The highest prize we can receive for creative work is the joy of being creative. Creative effort spent for any other reason than the joy of being in that light filled space, love, god, whatever we want to call it, is lacking in integrity. . ."
– Marianne Williamson

Do you have a creative project or hobby? Does it recharge you for the reasons we mentioned?

"Never depend on a single income." --Warren Buffet

The Tree of 40 Fruits grows in upstate, NY and as its name suggests, it produces forty different types of fruit thanks to the painstaking care of artist Sam Van Aken!  Now, as artists and creative types, we can all be like this fruit-defying tree and produce our own fruits in the form of revenue streams--fresh, juicy, fruity revenue!

Anyone can produce revenue fruits and enjoy the benefits such as long-term security, freedom, and additional skills sets. If you rely solely on a paycheck, your financial security is extremely vulnerable to the whims and financial health of your employer.

You can develop additional sources of income in any number of ways. Here are some ideas to get you started. Need more help? Contact us at jellyvisionshow@gmail.com. Jelly is always happy to chat with listeners!

Potential Revenue Fruits

  • Rent an un-used room in your house through Airbnb
  • Sign up as an affiliate with the brands/products you love and use
  • Knock on doors and offer services such as painting, house cleaning, yard work, dog walking, errand running, organizing, etc
  • Start a side business doing something you love.
  • Invest in real estate
  • Teach a skill that you have now, or acquire one
  • Organize a one-day conference for people in your industry/niche

  • You can now sell directly from your Facebook Business Page, so if you are an artist, designer, writer, crafter, or performer--get on there and start selling! What do you have to lose?
  • Find great items at thrift stores and sell them on Instagram
  • Make something and sell it on instagram. Ten Minutes To Sell Your Art Online
  • Invest in the stock market online. You don't have to be rich, you can make small, incremental investments with low fees.
